Philip Pullman
Philip Pullman was born in Norwich in 1946, and educated in England, Zimbabwe, and Australia, before his family settled in North Wales. He read English at Exeter College, Oxford and taught at various Oxford Middle Schools and at Westminster College in London. His books for children include Count Karlstein, the Sally Lockhart quartet, The Firework-Maker's Daughter, I Was a Rat and the His Dark Materials trilogy – the first book of which was released under the title THE GOLDEN COMPASS in December 2007. Philip has been honoured with several awards for writing including the Carnegie Medal, the Guardian Children’s Book Award, the Whitbread Book of the Year Award and the Eleanor Farjeon Award for children’s literature. When he’s not writing books, Philip likes to draw and to make things out of wood.
