The Etherington Brothers

The Etherington Brothers

Lawrence Etherington (art)

Lawrence, or ‘Lorenzo’ as he is known among comic creators and fans, is a trained fine artist. Having qualified from Falmouth Art College, Lorenzo spent his initial years sculpting bespoke furniture from wood, metal and glass before setting up the comic ideas factory, StudioBlinkTwice in 2003. It was pretty inevitable that Lorenzo would return to the world of illustration, having kick-started his career at the formative age of seven by doodling cartoons all over the kitchen table. His style became characterised by beautifully detailed environments and an ever-pervading sense of amusement. It wasn’t long before his unique approach gained the attention of animation giant, DreamWorks, who hired Lorenzo to illustrate their Madagascar comic strips. He is currently producing pages for The DFC and DreamWorks and has recently finished a five-week exhibition of his artwork as part of the Animated Exeter Festival.

Robin Etherington (story)

Robin is author and co-creator (together with Lorenzo) of the multi-nominated and award winning series ‘Malcolm Magic’, Robin has spent the past five years conjuring tales filled with comedy and idiocy. Robin’s stories are always coloured by a sense of fun, adventure and vibrant chaos. And he tries to absorb as much popular culture as possible for inspiration. This really means spending hours queuing to see the latest movies; days browsing in the local comic shop and months sat in front of his PS3!
